Sumisansui® or Sumi Soaker?

Sumisansui® or Sumi Soaker?

The Japanese Irrigation system called Sumisansui is quickly catching on in North America. We have received the same question from many of our customers: Is your product the same as the 'Sumi Soaker' being sold elsewhere and promoted by other farmers? The answer is: maybe. Our Sumisansui® R-Wide appears to be very similar to the 'Sumi Soaker MAX' product offered by other retailers. However, it is difficult to know for certain that the 'Sumi Soaker MAX' is the authentic product when those retailers do not use the original manufacturers naming system.

We chose to keep using the manufacturers original naming designation for these irrigation products. While it might be difficult to say, Sumisansui® refers to a very specific family of irrigation products that have been used in agricultural applications around the world for over 40 years.

The nickname 'Sumi Soaker' may have been coined by farmers and distributors in New Zealand or Australia who wanted a name that is a little easier to pronounce while also conveying the utility of Sumisansui irrigation tubes to gently soak the soil and seeds. Unfortunately, the name 'Sumi Soaker' does not translate that well to North American customers. When most of us imagine a 'soaker' irrigation system our first thoughts go to those very cheap soaker hoses offered at big box stores and marketed to homeowners for a quick solution to watering small landscaping areas. We all know those crumbling piles of soaker hose tucked in the back of the gardening shed.

The Sumisansui R series tubes are renowned for their ease of use, durability, and precise watering pattern. The optional Winder and bobbin system makes setting up and moving your irrigation system a breeze. The holes in the Sumisansui R-Wide tube are precisely engineered for their size, shape, and angle of spray. This level of engineering and craftsmanship results in the Sumisansui® Irrigation products providing years of precise watering for your farm.
